Privacy Policy
How restauWant collects, uses and protects personal information, and the choices you have.
Who we are
restauWant, LLC ("restauWant", "we", "us") is a company organized in Delaware, United States. We run restauwant.com, the restauWant app at dashboard.restauwant.com, and the Studio services described on this site. For the information this policy describes, we decide why and how it is used, which makes us the "controller" under European and UK law and the "business" under US state laws.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@restauwant.com, by phone on +1 470 256 5763, or by post at restauWant, LLC, 1111B S Governors Ave, STE 6883, Dover, DE 19904.
What this policy covers
It covers the website, the demo, our forms, emails, texts and calls, the accounts that our customers and their staff hold in the app, and the people we contact about restauWant.
It does not cover the restaurant guests whose purchases and visits a customer analyzes in the app. For that information the restaurant decides what happens and we act on its instructions; the section "Guest data in the app" explains how that works. It also does not cover other websites we link to.
The information we collect
From you. When you fill in a form, book a demo or a call, ask for access to the app, sign up, subscribe to emails or write to us, we keep what you give us: usually your name, work email, phone number, company, role, the number of locations you run, your message, and anything else you choose to tell us. If you open an account we also keep your sign-in details and settings. Subscription payments are handled by Stripe; we receive the card's brand, last four digits and expiry and your billing details, not the full card number.
Automatically. When you visit the site or use the app we receive your IP address, device and browser type, language, the pages you view, the page or ad that brought you here, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. On the website some of this is collected with cookies and similar tools, listed in our Cookie Policy. In the app we also keep the logs needed to run and secure it: sign-ins, actions and errors.
From other sources. To reach people who may find restauWant useful, we collect business contact details and public information about restaurants and the people who run them from company websites, business directories and professional networks such as LinkedIn. If you complete a lead form on one of our ads, the advertising platform passes us the details you entered. A partner or colleague may also introduce you to us.
We do not ask for sensitive information such as health, ethnic origin or religion, and we ask you not to send it to us.
How we use it, and why
For people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the legal basis for each use is shown.
- To reply to you, set up demos and calls, and provide the app and Studio services. Steps you ask us to take before a contract, and performing the contract.
- To create and run accounts, take payment and give support. Performing the contract.
- To keep the site and app secure, prevent misuse and fix errors. Our legitimate interest in running a safe service.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it. Your consent where the tool uses cookies or similar technology; otherwise our legitimate interest.
- To measure our own advertising and show restauWant ads to people who have visited. Your consent.
- To contact businesses about restauWant and stay in touch with people who have shown interest. Our legitimate interest in telling restaurant businesses about a service relevant to them, where the law allows contact on that basis, and your consent where the law requires it. Texts are sent only with your consent. You can object or tell us to stop at any time.
- To note how closely a business fits what we do and decide whom to follow up with. Our legitimate interest. No decision with legal or similarly significant effect is made about you by automated means.
- To record and transcribe calls and meetings (see "Calls and meetings"). Your consent, or our legitimate interest in an accurate record.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting duties and to handle claims. Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest.
Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time, which does not affect what we did before. Where we rely on legitimate interest you can object (see "Your rights").
Who we share it with
- Service providers that act on our instructions: website hosting, email and CRM, forms and form spam protection, meeting and call tools, tools that transcribe, summarize and help draft correspondence, payment processing, cloud hosting, security and error monitoring, and the analytics, advertising and session-recording tools listed in the Cookie Policy. Examples are Webflow, HubSpot, Google, Meta, LinkedIn and Stripe.
- Advertising platforms (Google, Meta, LinkedIn), through the tags described in the Cookie Policy, according to the cookie choice you make there. They may use that data for their own purposes under their own policies.
- Advisers such as lawyers, accountants and insurers, under confidentiality.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or to protect rights and safety.
- A buyer or successor, if restauWant is sold, merged or financed.
- Others you point us to, such as a partner you asked us to introduce. If you use the app through a company account, the account owner can see activity on that account.
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not hand it to anyone to market their own products.
Advertising, measurement and your US choices
We use the tags described in the Cookie Policy to measure our own advertising and to show restauWant ads to people who have visited the site. Under some US state laws, including California's, that counts as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or as "targeted advertising". You can opt out at any time: open "Cookie settings" in the footer and choose "Reject", or turn on a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, which we treat as an opt-out request for that browser.
We do not respond to the older "Do Not Track" browser setting, because there is no common standard for it. We do respond to Global Privacy Control.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website uses cookies, pixels and similar tools. The Cookie Policy lists each one, what it does, how long it lasts and how to change your choices.
Text messages
If you give us your mobile number and tick the box, or text us first, you agree to receive text messages from restauWant, LLC, such as a link to the demo and occasional updates about restauWant. We text only the number you gave us yourself. Agreeing is not a condition of buying anything. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop messages, or HELP for help, or email support@restauwant.com.
We do not share mobile phone numbers or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The service providers that help us send the messages handle them only for that purpose.
Our marketing emails carry an unsubscribe link and the postal address above. We stop sending within ten business days of your request, and usually immediately. We keep a minimal record of your opt-out so that we do not email you again by mistake.
Calls and meetings
We may record and transcribe calls and video meetings and keep a summary in our CRM, so we can follow up accurately and work out what was agreed. You are notified when you join the meeting. If you would rather we did not record, say so and we will not.
Guest data in the app
Restaurants connect their point-of-sale, reservation, online ordering, advertising and messaging accounts to the app. Through them we receive data about the restaurant's guests and orders: transaction, order and reservation details, contact details the restaurant already holds (such as a name, email address or phone number), and how guests interacted with the restaurant's website and ads.
For that data:
- The restaurant is in charge; we act for it. The restaurant is the controller (the "business"); we are its processor (its "service provider"). The restaurant decides what to connect and why, tells its guests how their information is used, and gets their consent where the law requires it.
- We use it only to provide the app to that restaurant. That means matching its marketing activity to its purchases and producing its reports and, where the restaurant tells us to, sending conversion information to Google and Meta so the restaurant's ads can be measured and improved. That information says a purchase happened and what it was worth, and where the restaurant holds them, can include identifiers such as an email address or phone number.
- We do not sell it or use it for our own advertising. We do not combine one restaurant's guest data with another's, other than to produce aggregated statistics that cannot identify anyone.
- If you are a restaurant's guest and want to see, correct or delete information about you, ask the restaurant. If you write to us, we will tell you who to contact and pass your request to the restaurant as the law requires.
The terms that govern this processing are in our App Terms of Service and, where the law requires one, a Data Processing Addendum, which we provide on request.
Where your information is processed
We are based in the United States and our providers work in the United States and other countries, so information about people in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland is processed outside those regions. Where that happens we use a recognized transfer mechanism: an adequacy decision, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for recipients that are certified under it, or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum where needed. You can ask us for a copy of the clauses we use.
How long we keep it
- Contact and CRM records: while we are in touch and for 3 years after our last contact, then deleted or anonymized.
- Account data: for the life of the account and 90 days after it closes. Billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Recorded calls and transcripts: 12 months, unless you become a customer and the recording is needed for the account.
- Website analytics: event-level data in Google Analytics is kept for 14 months. Cookies expire as listed in the Cookie Policy.
- Guest data in the app: while the restaurant's subscription is active. After it ends the restaurant has 30 days to retrieve it, and we delete it within 30 days after that, and from backups within 90 days, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
Everyone. You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and tell us to stop contacting you.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to: access your information; have it corrected; have it erased; restrict how we use it; receive the information you gave us in a portable format; object to our use of it, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing; withdraw consent at any time; and not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects (we make none). You can complain to the data protection authority where you live or work, or where the issue arose. We would like the chance to put it right first, but you do not have to ask us first.
If you are in the United States, depending on your state you may have the right to: know and access what we collect, use and disclose about you; correct it; delete it; receive a copy in a portable format; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising; opt out of profiling used for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects (we do none); limit the use of sensitive personal information (we use it only to provide the service); and not be treated differently for using any of these rights. We offer these to everyone in the United States, whether or not your state's law requires it.
In the last twelve months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, phone number, IP address, device and cookie identifiers), from you, automatically and from other sources; commercial information (plan and billing history with us), from you; internet and network activity (pages viewed, referring pages, interactions), automatically; approximate location from your IP address, automatically; professional information (company, role, number of locations), from you and from public sources; audio and electronic information (recorded calls and voicemails), from you; inferences (how closely a business fits what we do), which we create; and sensitive personal information limited to account sign-in credentials, from you. We disclose identifiers, internet activity and approximate location to service providers and, unless you have rejected optional cookies, to advertising and analytics platforms; the other categories go to service providers only. We have not sold personal information for money. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
How to use your rights. Email support@restauwant.com and tell us what you want. We will check that the request comes from you by matching what you tell us with what we hold, and may ask for more if we need it. A person acting for you can send the request with your written permission. We answer within one month in the EEA and UK and within 45 days in the United States, and tell you if we need more time as the law allows. There is no charge unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive. If we decline a request and you disagree, reply and ask for an appeal; we will review it and answer in writing within 60 days. If you are still not satisfied you can contact your state attorney general or your data protection authority.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures suited to the risk, including limiting access to the people who need it and checking the providers we use. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
The website and the app are for businesses and are not aimed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We will post any change here and update the date at the top. If a change is material, we will also tell you by email or with a notice on the site.
